ESTPs are the entrepreneurs of the MBTI. When compared with the enneagram, a good number identify as ESTP 7w6.

This article discusses who the ESTP 7w6 is and what you can expect from them.

Who is the ESTP 7w6?

ESTP 7w6s is everything you know about ESTPs with a twist. They are rash, confident, bold, and quite impulsive. However, they also consider their actions before acting.

In other words, while their first line of thought is to be brave or impulsive, this personality type is also cautious. Their cautiousness might come from an enhanced use of their introverted thinking (Ti) function.

Type 7 is the most common enneagram type for ESTPs. However, 7w6 is not as common as 7w8. This makes this type fairly rare. The presence of type 6 as a wing changes some of the typical traits of the ESTP.

ESTP 7w6s are more likely to be assertive than turbulent.

What is the Core Desire of the ESTP 7w6?

The core desire of the ESTP 7w6 is to be happy or satisfied. They want to get the best out of life. While this is true, they want to do this without ruining their lives.

What is the Core Fear of the ESTP 7w6?

The core fear of the ESTP 7w6 is to be deprived of the good things in life. To avoid this, they try to avoid routines or rigid schedules.

They just want to be free.

How the 7w6 Changes Some of the Natural Tendencies of the ESTP

1.   More Likely To Consider the Rules

ESTPs value traditions but not rules. They are impulsive and can challenge rules and authority. You get the same trait with ESTP 7w6s with a twist.

This time, they give the rules a second thought before making up their mind. While this is true, they are always more likely to follow their desires.

This might change if their wing is especially strong.

2.   More Cautious

This follows the last point. ESTP 7w6s are generally more cautious than typical ESTPs. They think more about the consequences of their actions.

Because of their wing, they try to find possible implications for their actions using their Ti. This usually means they avoid some of the traps typical ESTPs might fall into.

The extent to which this applies depends on their wing.

3.   A Bit More Loyal

Type 6 is a loyalist. This is also seen in the ESTP 7w6 to some extent. While they always put themselves first, they care about their loved ones.

Thus, anything that they can do to help that is not harmful to them will be done. However, they will rarely put others above their interests.

4.   A Bit Better with Money

ESTPs don’t fare very well with money. Now, they know how to make money for sure. However, managing it is a different story.

With ESTP 7w6, things are slightly better. While they are not maestros at budgeting or handling debts, they are less reckless.

They also give a second thought to impulse buying. While this does not always prevent them from splashing the cash, it sometimes reduces spending.

5.   Less Impulsive

This follows the last point. ESTP 7w6s become generally less impulsive than typical ESTPs. They think before they leap and are willing to consider all the angles to an issue.

This is all down to the presence of their wing. Thus, the stronger the wing, the less impulsive they will be.

New Weaknesses of the ESTP 7w6

1.   Fearful

ESTP 7w6s are very fearful people. Here’s why. Type 7 and type 6 are both in the fear triad. This means they access their emotions through fear.

Type 7 tries to distract themselves from this fear, while type 6 allows themselves to feel their fear. Thus, ESTP 7w6s have nowhere to hide.

Their fear can often be a stumbling block to their desires and life opportunities.

2.   More Doubtful

With fear comes doubts. ESTPs are very confident people who trust in their abilities. However, ESTP 7w6s will suffer from doubts about themselves and their abilities.

This might not always be on display as they are masters at hiding their true emotions. However, it is present nevertheless.

The extent to which this applies depends on their wing.

3.   More Distrusting

Type 6 has a problem with trust. So, ESTP 7w6s might find them being overly paranoid or suspicious of others.

Their trust issues might also start when you break that trust even in the smallest ways. This issue becomes more pronounced if their wing is strong.

4.   More Likely to Avoid Serious Conversations

ESTP 7w6s will try to avoid serious conversations for many reasons. First, it means actually putting away their distractions and facing the real world.

They are also afraid of the consequences of that conversation. Type 6 fears making life-altering decisions. Having such a serious conversation often leads to planning and choices.

Why can’t we just have fun and live a life of adventure?

ESTP 7w6 in the Workplace

  1. And what about ESTP cp 6? David Keirsey wrote that ESTPs are 4-10% of population. Many MBTI practitioners said this Jungian type may be underestimated (official number is 4,3%, but some practitioners serve bigger numbers 6-7% from their experience). Also, cp 6 could be appropriate for some ESTPs, because of quaternary Ni (and in some cases, frequent Ni-grips), such kind of fear due tu tertiary Fe, stronger developed auxiliary function Ti (some ESTPs may be like ISTPs) and also sometimes Se-Fe loops (which may cause another fear). But why counter-phobic? Concioussness of fear doesn’t mean fight with it and its sources.

Subtypes cp 6 may be reason of many mistypes. These persons can define themselves as different MBTI types (ESTJs – combo Se+Ti can be mimic for Te, ESFJs – let remember about tertiary Fe, ISTPs – strong auxiliary function, even ENFJs – strong tertiary Fe, ENTJs – combo of objective thinker and person who loves think big, ENTPs – intuitive/sensory bias).
