INTJ 9w1 enters the conversation as one of the rarest MBTI and enneagram combinations. In this article, we’ll learn more about who the INTJ 9w1 is and what we can expect from them.

Who is the INTJ 9w1?

INTJ 9w1 are easygoing people with a touch of ethics and morality. They are usually nice and chill. Given the stereotypes around INTJs, you might find it hard to believe they are one.

INTJ 9w1s are very rare. First, type 9 is not one of the common enneagram types for INTJs. There are also more INTJ 9w8s than INTJ 9w1s. The presence of type 9 and type 1 changes some of the known traits of the INTJ as we shall soon see.

INTJ 9w1s are more likely to be turbulent than assertive.

What is the Core Desire of the INTJ 9w1?

The core desire of the INTJ 9w1 is to maintain harmony. They want to have inner peace. To achieve this, they try to get along with everyone as much as they can.

As with every type 9, they try to avoid conflict.

What is the Core Fear of the INTJ 9w1?

The core fear of the INTJ 9w1 is to be in constant conflict. To avoid this, the INTJ 9w1 will employ every tactic in their arsenal to maintain peace.

Unlike the INFPs or other feelers that are type 9s, INTJ 9w1s will use logic in their bid to avoid conflict.

How the 9w1 Changes Some of the Natural Tendencies of the INTJ

1.   More Tactful

INTJs are blunt. They like to say things how they are and say them immediately. INTJ 9w1s are different. Granted, they’ll still have those thoughts and opinions at the tip of their tongue.

However, they’ll show a lot of restraint when talking or expressing themselves. This is because they really do not have the mental strength to deal with conflict.

So, they’ll be extremely tactful especially when dealing with sensitive or overly assertive people.

2.   A Bit More Extroverted

INTJs are usually super introverts. They love their alone time and won’t trade it for anything. This is also true of the INTJ 9w1.

However, they will be a bit more extroverted. Usually, this will be to accommodate others. Because type 9s like to socialize with others, INTJ 9w1s will also have this pull.

However, INTJ 9w1s are still INTJs. Introversion will always come first.

3.   More Ethical

Type 1s are the most ethical and morally inclined type in the enneagram of personality. Depending on how strong their wing is, INTJ 9w1s will be more ethical.

They will want to do the right thing. This will be further enhanced by their introverted feeling (Fi) function. Their values and morals are important to them.

4.   Easy Going

Type 9s are one of the nicest types in the enneagram of personality (second only to type 2). Thus, expect INTJ 9w1s to be nice and easy-going.

They will normally go with the flow and do what’s required of them. However, this does not mean that they’ll allow you to run all over them.

This will be made abundantly clear when their morals are tested.

5.   Less Rigid With Their Opinions

With tactfulness comes a change in how they express their opinions. INTJ 9w1s will appear less rigid with their opinions.

They will be ready to change it or listen to what others have to say. Sometimes, this might only be on the surface.

INTJ 9w1s might master the art of simply telling you what you want to hear.

This is just one of their many tactics for avoiding conflict.

New Weaknesses of the INTJ 9w1

1.   Mild People-Pleasers

As earlier stated, this personality type is more tactful and willing to listen to others.

This naturally translates to chronic people-pleasers. However, because they are INTJs, this trait will be reduced.

INTJ 9w1s will know when to restrain themselves and when to be assertive. They will still be people-pleasers, but only just.

2.   More Complacent

Type 9 is infamous for their complacent issues. This is borne out of their need not to disrupt their inner harmony. Putting themselves out there consistently can do that. INTJ 9w1 have the same problem.

They will struggle with complacency.

3.   Analysis Paralysis

Type 9s are indecisive. They honestly do not want to cause any conflict. So, they have a hard time making decisions.

INTJ 9w1s have the same problem. Because they are logical, they will analyze issues to find the most logical way of keeping the peace.

The problem is this is not always possible. Thus, this personality type might suffer from analysis paralysis.

This can happen with a small or big decision.

4.   Wanting Perfection, But Falling Short

The presence of type 1 as a wing means this personality type will crave perfection. INTJs are also master strategists. While this is true, their shortcoming will be the flaws of type 9.

Type 9 is not as invested in such things. Thus, INTJ 9w1s will neither be as clinical/efficient as other INTJs nor will they be as perfect as type 1s.

They will simply be INTJ 9w1s.

INTJ 9w1 in the Workplace

INTJs are great with analysis. Thus, they excel in careers that allow them to use their analytical reasoning to the full. They also do really well with structure and defined roles in a workplace. INTJ 9w1s are similar.

INTJ 9w1 also wants a workplace that is harmonious. They also don’t do with employees that are overly confrontational. It does not mean that they cannot stand up for themselves. They just prefer peace.

To get the best out of this personality type, make their role allows them to be creative. If the workplace is harmonious, even better!

  1. Yo. Thanks for these great resources. Could you do ENFJ Enneagram 1? One of friends I’m pretty certain is that type. Not sure if her wing is a 2 or a 9. Unless it’s possible she’s an INFJ.

  2. Hey. Thanks for this great article. I was doubting how I can be of type INTJ-T and 9w1 at the same time. Your article describes me almost perfectly. To the point where I was amazed how accurate it is. Only exception is that I don’t think I’m complacent and I currently don’t see me in any of the above careers, but this may have other reasons. Have to think about it again.

    • Hey Nicolas,
