ENTPs are the natural debaters of the MBTI typology. They are free-spirited and energetic people. These are people who love the big picture. They are always busy with different projects. ENTPs will often be divided into two sub-types. These are the ENTP-T and the ENTP-A.
In this article, we’ll focus on the ENTP-A. If you want to know about ENTP-T, you can click that link.
Who is the ENTP-A?
This is the assertive ENTP. They take a much more direct approach to life. This shows in most of their decisions and choices.
You should understand that ENTP-A and ENTP-T share the same cognitive functions. The only difference between these two sub-types is their approach to life.
What are ENTP-As Like?
Here are some common traits that a majority of ENTP-As might exhibit
1. Extremely Logical
ENTPs are very logical people by default. They have no respect for traditions and like to go about things their own way.
While this is true, it is far more evident with ENTP-As. Because this type is far more likely to speak up and be counted, they are often more insensitive and ruthless in their communication.
This might be a good thing in situations that warrant such direct style and frankness. However, it can also be a drawback if friends and loved ones feel bad about it.
2. Dealing with Anger
ENTP-As are less likely to get angry than other ENTPs. One main reason for this is that they are simply not in touch with their emotions.
Thus, ENTP-A might not take to heart harsh words said to them. This makes it very difficult for an ENTP-A to hold a long-standing grudge against someone else.
You must have really crossed a line for this to happen.
3. More Extroverted
ENTP-As are more extroverted than their counterparts. Thus, while ENTPs are generally introverted extroverts, ENTP-As will be more sociable and outgoing.
This is often the reason why some ENTPs are confused with ESTPs and vice versa.
4. They are Adaptable
While the ENTPs are known to be more flexible and spontaneous, ENTP-As take it to a whole new level. Because ENTP-As often feel secure in their own skin, they are more likely willing to take on new challenges.
This quality can have its pros and cons. On one hand, it makes the ENTP-A a very capable personality type. Organizations will want to have them on their team as they are capable in many positions.
On the other hand, many ENTP-As stop planning ahead because of this quality. This can lead to lower productivity and quality.
5. ENTP-A and Enneagram Type
ENTP-As are likely to be type 7 and type 3 than any other type. This fits their description perfectly as type 7s and type 3s are very energetic and curious types.
ENTP-As can also be type 8s. However, this is not as common. I have written an article about ENTP 8w7s. You can click that link if you find the topic interesting.
6. Confidence and Positive
ENTPs, in general, are very positive people. They love to look at the bright side of things and this can be very infectious.
ENTP-As show this trait more than other ENTPs. They are confident and very charismatic people. This makes them very persuasive in arguments. They are also often liked.
Thus, it is not surprising if ENTP-As are usually very popular or well-known people. They just can’t help it.
ENTP-A and Dating
Are you married or dating an ENTP-A? It can be one of the most memorable moments of your life. Here are some important things you should know about them.
· ENTP-A and Compatibility
The natural partners of the ENTP-A are the INFJ-T and the INTJ-T. While this is true, any two mature people can make a relationship work.
The MBTI should not be a guide to determining the success of your relationship.
· Spontaneous
ENTP-As want to be in a spontaneous relationship. Relationships that are built on routine and predictability are not things that appeal to an ENTP-A or ENTPs in general.
Thus, if you want your relationship to work, you have to be more spontaneous. Here are some spontaneous things you can do in your relationship.
· Constant Development
Just like the ENFP, ENTPs, in general, crave constant growth. They want to achieve a lot during their lives and want a partner who allows them to grow.
They also want their partners to grow and achieve their goals. Thus, if an ENTP-A feels that the relationship is simply stagnant or not allowing them to explore, they can end the relationship.
· Direct Communication
ENTP-As are confident and assertive people. They like to communicate directly. However, this is not the same for all MBTI types.
Some types like to take their time to process how they feel. ENTPs often show a lot of impatience when dealing with people who are not straightforward.
If not handled properly, this can put a lot of pressure on their relationship.
Struggles ENTP-A might Face in their relationship
ENTP-As are likely to face troubles with commitment. This often stems from a feeling of being trapped. ENTPs, in general, are often considered very flighty.
However, the truth is that ENTPs simply want a relationship that can bring out the best in themselves.
ENTP-A and Career Options
ENTP-As will do well in careers that offer a lot of room for creativity and flexible working hours. ENTPs, in general, do not well in a very structured environment.
It’s also important that the ENTP-A also has a lot of passion for the work or profession that they find themselves in. Without this passion, they might become bored and simply hop onto the next career path.
To get the best out of the ENTP-A, they should be placed in roles that offer creativity and freedom to be innovative.
