The INFJ is also referred to as the advocate of the MBTI typology. That’s not all there is to the INFJ. They are also the rarest personality type in the MBTI typology. Yet, there’s more. The INFJ personality type has two variants. They are the INFJ-A and the INFJ-T
Here, we’ll talk more about the INFJ-A. If you want an in-depth description of the INFJ-T, you should click that link.
Who is an INFJ-A?
This is the assertive advocate. They take on a more direct approach to life. This shows in pretty much all their dealings and attitudes towards other people.
They are completely different from the INFJ-T in this regard. I wrote an article about the differences between the INFJ-T and INFJ-A. You might find that interesting.
How Rare is the INFJ-A?
The INFJ-A are the second rarest sub-variant in the MBTI typology. The rarest is the INFJ-T. Thus, INFJ-A faces the problem of being misunderstood by the majority of people.
There are just not that many INFJs.
What are INFJ-As Like?
Wondering what an INFJ-A would look like? Let’s take a deep dive.
1.     Extroverted Introverts
INFJs are often considered to be extroverted introverts. This is mostly down to the presence of INFJ-As. Because they are more assertive than other INFJs, they are more likely to be more outspoken.
Thus, while they might also like their alone time, they also don’t mind speaking up when they feel inclined.
2.     Opinionated
INFJ-As are much more opinionated than your usual INFJs. While most INFJs have strong values, they might simply withdraw in response to conflict.
However, INFJ-As are more likely to express these opinions and stick to them. Thus, INFJ-As are often more stubborn than INFJ-T.
3.     Much More Rational
INFJs are feeler types. However, they can also be quite rational. This is mostly because of the INFJ-A. While both sets of INFJs can be rational, it is prominent with them.
They are more likely to think through their actions. They are also less sensitive to comments made by people. Thus, INFJ-As have thicker skins and less of an emotional response.
4.     More Immune to Social Pressure
Social pressure or the need to please people is less likely to affect INFJ-As. This makes sense as this type is assertive and wants to take control of their lives.
Thus, they are more likely to make decisions without seeking the opinions of anyone. This makes them less likely to be people pleasers.
However, this means that they will also make more mistakes than other INFJs. Their need for independence will see them miss out on important perspectives others might offer.
5.     Enneagram Types
INFJs, in general, are more likely to be type 4, type 5, type 2, or type 9. However, INFJ-As are more likely to be type 4 and type 5.
The presence of type 5 either as a dominant wing or a dominant type allows INFJ-A to be much more sufficient and independent.
6.     INFJ-A and Motivation
INFJ-As are more likely to be motivated than other INFJs. Because they are confident and assertive, they are often confident that tough times will not put them down for long.
Thus, INFJ-As are more willing to take on new tasks and challenge themselves. They are also more likely to overcome a lot of challenges they face.
The drawback here is that the INFJ-A might take on some tasks that might not be worth their time.
INFJ-A and Approach to Relationships
When it comes to love and relationships, INFJ-A takes a rather direct approach. INFJ-As are more intentional and expressive very earlier on in a relationship.
They do not do well with situationship and want to know where they stand. Thus, their partners or admirers are never in doubt on where they stand with the INFJ-A.
INFJ-A and Dating
INFJs, in general, like the idea of romance. They want to meet a partner who understands them completely. Thus, they are always on the lookout for the ideal partner.
